Stop Working Yourself To Death

Stop Working Yourself To Death

Does it seem at times that all you ever do is work?

For millions of people, this in fact does seem like reality.

Working a typical 40 hours a week turns into 50, 60 and in some cases beyond this. Before they know it, they’ve burned themselves out.

If you are working yourself to death, is it time to change things up?

Find Fun Stuff to Take Your Mind Off of Work

In looking to scale back your work schedule and have a little more fun, keep some of these ideas in mind:

  1. More family time – As important as your family is to you, do you get to spend enough time with them? Chances are the answer to that question is no. With that in mind, schedule more family time moving forward. Like you may have a date night with your significant other; have a family night each week. It can be something as simple as a home-cooked meal and playing games to going out for a movie. No matter what itinerary you come up with, it will give you something to look forward to when work is not number one.
  1. Hit the open water – Whether you like the beach or heading out sailing, being in the open water can be relaxing. With that being the case, how about you go check out a whale watching tour? Seeing these large mammals only a few feet away from you at times can prove quite exhilarating. If your children are old enough for such an adventure, they will come away with smiles on their faces. Before you know it, your children will be asking all kinds of questions about whales and the ocean.
  2. Weekend camping trip – When was the last time you went camping? If it has been since childhood, it may well be time to head off somewhere and pitch a tent. That said camping is a great opportunity for a family to bond. Set a weekend up where you head out of work on Friday and don’t think about it again until Monday. In the meantime, you fish the nearby lake or river, checking out wildlife, and asleep under the stars.
  3. Organize a family reunion – Has it been a while now since your full family has gotten together for a reunion? If so, don’t you think the time has come for such an event? With many families so spread out, it can be hard to get everyone together for even a few hours. Start organizing the event and get the invites sent out. Yes, it may seem like a part-time job at times. That said seeing cousins, aunts, uncles, and others you’ve not been with for many years can be fun. Next thing you know, you rekindle relationships you thought may never happen again.

Taking care of your physical and mental well-being is quite important.

If work is consuming too much of your life these days, find one or more things to take your mind off the daily grind.

In doing so, you will improve your health and even have a regular smile on your face.
