While in Dubrovnik, a visit to the Old Town is a must for any visitor interested in culture of the old Europe. Special attraction is popular Stradun Street. This narrow and paved with cobblestone street is a home to impressive number of cultural monuments. Along its humble 600 meters of length, you’ll find an ancient Bell Tower, The Large Onofrio’s Fountain, Orlando’s Column, Franciscan monastery and many other interesting sites.

While here, you can’t possibly miss the city’s most well know trademark – The City Wall’s Of Dubrovnik. These defensive walls run around the city for about 2 kilometers from the sea side and peak at 24 meters in height. They are as imposing as they were in the old times, and they provide a one of the kind experience. This monument of defensive fort building is placed on UNESCO’s list of world heritage sites in 1979. You’ll be thrilled to know that walls are actually open for public. The view from the walls is incredible and you can admire both the city on one side and the Adriatic Sea on the other.

Nature Park Medvednica

Medvednica

If you want to get away from the crowded cities and to experience nature in its true splendor, Medvednica is the right place. This park of nature is not far from Zagreb – capital of Croatia – just few kilometers north. The whole reserve is undisturbed by man and the only thing that will break the silence is the birds chirp. Medvednica offers plenty of activities to visitors, anything from exploring its endless forests to hiking on the higher peaks. Or you can explore its caves and admire how mother nature can be creative and unpredictable when building such an amazing natural wonder. Krk Island

Historical Vestiges Of Krk

Croatia is more than its mainland and the Krk Island is a confirmation for that. Krk is the second largest island in Croatia and certainly one of the most beautiful. The island is located near Rijeka, capital city of Primorje – Gorski Kotar County. With its 19.000 inhabitants, it is considered highly populated island with several towns and villages spread across its 405.78 square kilometers. Mild Mediterranean climate is perfect for enjoyment in the natural beauties of Krk. One of such is charming Vela Plaza Beach. Although it can be crowded during summer months, beach is well known for its pleasant sandy surface (important for kids) and amazingly clean waters. Some other notable Blue Flag beaches are: Porporela Beach, Portapisana Beach, Beach Plav, Zgribnica Beach, Malin Draga and Punta Debij.

Beach Krk

Aside from being rich in natural wonders, the island is also considered “the cradle of Croatian culture”. That is a moniker with lots of weight, but Krk surely deserves it. One of the oldest texts written on Croatian is originating from here and is preserved in the form of famous Baska Tablet. Island is also host to several historical vestiges like Krk Cathedral, Frankopan Castle, Church of St. Lucy just to name a few.

It’s important to say that Krk is actually connected to the mainland with a bridge. So you won’t need to worry about transporting your family across water. But, because of its size and spread of attractive sights, it’s smart to rent a car on Krk and explore the island.

If you are a fan of pleasant Mediterranean climate, well known hospitality, exquisite food and wine, spiced up with lots of cultural heritage and pristine nature, Croatia is a great destination for you and your family. It’s a place that has a lot to offer and will surely surprise you with its beauty.
