10 Things to See and Visit in the Area:

Visit Luss – this is a small village with fantastic views. There are many islands that make up this area and you can take part in activities like cycling and walking. You can stop off at one of the charming cottages or bed and breakfasts which are owned by some of the friendly locals.

Dumbarton Castle – this is a great family outing where children will not only have an adventure, but they will be learning something new at the same time. There is a brilliant view of Clyde from the top of the Castle with a lot of history attached. It goes all the way back to the medieval times.

Whiskey distilleries – Everyone knows that the most famous whiskey comes from Scotland, so it would be a great opportunity to take a tour and find out how one of these products are produced. Glengoyne Distillery is one of the most famous and this is something to look into.

Farmer’s market – this is a great way to relax after a strenuous day cycling around the shores. There is a great atmosphere at Balloch where you will find the market and it is a festive event. All products are fresh and inspiring and it is definitely worth a visit.

Exploring the loch – there are various cruises available which are reasonable in price and allow you take advantage of finding more about the area. They vary in length and what they have to offer. For example, the Maid of the Loch is found on the shores of Balloch and offers one a whole day out. This would be great for the family.

The tree zone – This is a nice adventure winding your way around in between trees with the help of a couple of ropes. Recently, another zone was built. This is for adults and children over seven years old.

Queen Elizabeth Forest Park – This is a beautiful attraction and a great escape with magnificent walks, trails and views. There is a chance to go fishing and if you are not feeling as active, you could even take a drive around these parts.

Guided tours – there are many guided tours around these parts which makes one feel fully confident that you are in the capable hands of someone who is fully experienced. There are people to take you out trekking or on pony adventures. Tour guides will also drive you around, so that you don’t have to worry about directions and maps. This gives you a chance to fully relax and enjoy yourself.

Balloch Castle – This is also a nice outing and there is a lot to learn from this castle, which was built all the way back in 1238. The grounds are also spectacular here.

Festivals and events – there is always something happening at Loch Lomond. This is why it is nice to plan ahead and come to the area at a certain time. There are different conferences held. Sometimes there are wine festivals organized. There could be something interesting happening at the aquarium, for example.
