TV lovers need never miss their favourite show again

If you love watching television but also lead a busy lifestyle, being at home whenever your favourite show airs can be somewhat challenging. Thankfully, there are several apps available for 4G mobile phones that could prevent you from having to rush back to yours or miss out.

TVCatchup Live TV

If you have access to the internet but not a TV then this free app could provide the ideal solution. It offers more than 50 UK channels – including the five major terrestrial broadcasters – and allows users to tune in and watch them live on their device. TVCatchup is easy to use and provides a Now and Next guide for each station, so it’s easy to browse through and find something worth watching.

4oD

If you’re a fan of Channel 4, More4 or E4 and choose to buy a new iPhone 5, UK shows from past and present will be in the palm of your hand. It stores a wide selection of programmes for up to 30 days after broadcast and also offers a host of classic content covering everything from comedy and drama to documentaries. The one downside to accessing the hours of entertainment that it potentially provides is that you will have to put up with watching advertisements, but this is perhaps a small price to pay for a free app.

BBC iPlayer

Much like 4oD this is a mobile version of the popular catch-up service. You can use it to watch a varied output from the past week across the Beeb’s channels. It’s even possible to watch live using an internet connection and download shows to watch while you’re on the move.  The favourites function is a particularly useful way of making sure you catch the latest episode as it saves them for you to access later.

Netflix

Members of the TV and film streaming service Netflix with 4G mobile phones might like to take advantage of this free app, which allows them to use it while they are out and about. It offers a number of titles to choose from, including box sets of popular series such as Breaking Bad. The app is regularly updated with titles and most are made available around the same time they are released on DVD or Blu-ray. With access anytime and anywhere your journeys on public transport could soon be transformed for the better.
